Planning the Total Course

Designing and delivering a class, especially to adults, can be challenging.  In this workshop, instructors will learn to establish the aim of the course, develop the syllabus/course outline, prepare session-by-session guides (lesson plans), and integrate course materials into the overall course design.  Topics will also include classroom management, assessment, learning styles, and instructional best practices.

Instructor Round Table

This session provides an opportunity for instructors to share successful teaching techniques, exchange classroom experiences, and work collaboratively with other Extension instructors to resolve difficult classroom situations. The round table format provides a give-and-take atmosphere conducive to creative problem-solving and sharing of best practices.

Basics of Intellectual Property and Copyright

Offered only online, this self-directed informational workshop suggests best practices for choosing materials for your course, covers the basic mechanics of U.S. Copyright Law and applying Fair Use, and discusses how the law and UC policies apply to your teaching. Learning modules contain expanded text, case studies, videos, and resources. Participants can test their knowledge by taking brief quizzes at the end of each module. This online workshop is uninstructed and self-paced so that participants can explore this topic in-depth, at their leisure.  Extension’s Intellectual and Academic Content Coordinator is available to answer questions throughout this self-guided workshop.
